Today we’re going to go and figure out the best way to get some exposure for your business online without having to do a whole lot of very complicated search engine optimization. This process will effectively boost your website ranking in search results without having to make any changes to your website!

Claim You Listing

The first thing you need to do is claim your Google My Business listing. If you have not already claimed it, now is a good time to do that. If it doesn’t exist yet then, you need to go and create it and then get it verified. Google will send you a verification code in the mail or they might phone or text you depending on whether or not your phone number has already been verified for that location.

Update Your Information

The next thing that you need to do is update the information that is on your listing. This means that you can make sure that your hours are correct, make sure that your holiday hours are correct, and update your branding and pictures of your team or pictures of your services. Updating this information regularly sends a signal to Google that your business is active and that you have new things to contribute.

Adding Posts

There is also a section within Google My Business that is for adding posts to your My Business listing. These posts can be an image and some text with a link to your website, they can be a link to an event, or they can be a selection of other outcomes. Not very many people will actually see these posts, however, it’s important to show Google that you have content to add and that it relates to the content that is on your website and the services or products that you provide.

You can also add photos on a regular basis of your services of your location and or just in general at work situations. In the past year, marketers have noticed that this process can really boost your website rankings without having to make changes to your website.

So, what kind of results do you think that we can get from this?

Marketers suggest that a good Google My Business listing can influence your ranking in search results by up to 19%. Every time that you do an update to your My Business listing or add content to it, that’s a signal to Google that your business is active and therefore should be shown more in search results. Also, by updating your Google My Business listing it bumps your business up to show higher within the Map Pack within Google search results when people are searching locally for your business.

About Posts in My Business

Posts are not a big exposure on their own but they do increase your website ranking. It means that there is less pressure to produce something extremely intelligent or witty in your posts. Each post can be short and sweet and you can use your business keywords within these posts. When you’re creating a post, it’s important to also be using an original photo because Google rewards original content. And then link to a relevant page on your website. Now, at this point you might realize that you don’t have a relevant page on your website for what it is you want to talk about. This is an indicator for you that you might want to create a page on your website that’s talking about this product or service that you are posting about.

Insights and Data

Lastly, having your Google My Business listing set up correctly allows you to see more data about how people are finding your website, finding your business, or contacting you. You can see how many people have looked or tapped on your phone number and how many have gone to your contact page.
